What is photo analysis
Dr. Gabriel Raam - October 2003

You are about to meet someone for the first time in a blind
date. You got their picture an you are "dying" to know a little
bit more about the person in the picture, In other words: What is
hiding behind the smiling face in the picture? Or you may have an old
family picture of your relatives who are not alive and you are curious to learn
what kind of people they were? What relationships they had between them? Or
you may even want to get a new insight about yourself at various stages of your life...

Photoanalysis is a sub- branch of body language analysis. Contrary to body language – which
is part of behavior science – dealing with live people, photo-analysis uncoveres personality, human interaction and relationships, based on statistical and other details found in still photos.

The story behind the picture

"One picture worth 1000 words"...Only if you know how to look at it, what to look for and especially how to go into its depth and uncover the secretes of the people in it. A picture is more than what you see in it, since every detail is a code that hide in it information of personal hystory, personality structure, current mood, relationships' interaction between the people in it and much more...

The photoanalysis system which based on personality analysis and relationship between people, enables unravel these codes and the meanings for the person in the picture. The picture tells us the real story of these relationships, the feelings and intentions sometimes hidden behind well phrased words and ceremonial gestures posed to the camera. The picture freezes a moment in time – but even within this moment the obvious and the non-obvious go hand in hand. We see what the person in the picture wanted to show, but we can learn much more what people reveal unconciencly through the their body language.

The picture language is not the posters and advertizing language. These products are stages to display certain message , to convey an idea. In photoanalysis we look for the modest and little things. Sometimes even a chin lifted slightly in the direction of a certain person in the picture, a bend of the body or hands posture is hiding more than many words can describe, and provide us with an insight that many hours psychotherapist may not explain.

A picture in the newspaper can be non-impressive, but a trained eye can reveal in the very same picture clues which are non-verbally conveyed. An angle of handshake, a distance between head of states after a successful summit, or even the difference in the number of open buttons in their jackets before and after the meeting can, sometimes, can shed light of the attitude to the official agreement achieved. Everything is information. Everything in the picture speaks to those who know the language.

The posture of the object in the picture is not accidental or meaningless as it may look in initial and superficial look. A person's mental state in a given moment directs the verious body parts, the way they stand, the look in their eyes, the facial expression like a marionette operator operates his pupets.

We know that words can lie whereas the body does it seldomly, and even then without great success. A proof can be found in the Poligraph (the lie detector) it confirms our knowledge that the body transmits messages we can not control.

Let us now take a professional look at few pictures to get a better understanding what photoanlysis is about.

A Family picture
You are now looking at the 33rd president of the USA Harry Truman, his wife and daughter. From the outset it is quite obvious what we are looking at in this picture, but let us take the "surgeon scalpel" and "peel the skin" of the scene shown in this picture...
